The Research Coordinator serves as the Core Imaging Laboratory (CIL) Manager for the Chronic Subdural Hematoma Treatment with Embolization Versus Surgery Study (CHESS), a multicenter clinical trial within the Department of Medicine at RWJBarnabas Health. The CIL Manager is responsible for the day-to-day operational management of centralized imaging workflows and serves as a critical connection between participating study sites, the Central Imaging Laboratory, and the study team.
By coordinating the acquisition, verification, processing, secure storage, and quality control of clinical imaging data, the CIL Manager helps ensure the integrity, accuracy, confidentiality, and regulatory compliance of imaging data used in clinical research. This role works closely with study investigators and participating sites to maintain protocol adherence, support blinded analysis, and ensure imaging workflows remain consistent, efficient, and audit-ready throughout the study.
Education: Medical degree required, including MD, MBBS, or DO.
Experience: Minimum of one (1) to two (2) years of clinical research experience required.
Clinical Research: Experience working in a clinical research environment, preferably involving multicenter clinical trials, imaging data, or neurological conditions.
Specialty Experience: Experience in neurosurgery, neurology, neuroradiology, or a related clinical specialty preferred.
Imaging Technology: Familiarity with medical imaging platforms and technologies, including PACS, DICOM, and AMBRA preferred.
Clinical Research Databases: Experience with clinical research databases and electronic research systems, such as WebDCU, preferred.
Regulatory Knowledge: Knowledge of Good Clinical Practice (GCP), FDA regulatory standards, clinical research requirements, and applicable institutional policies preferred.
Data Management: Demonstrated ability to coordinate, review, verify, organize, process, and securely maintain clinical imaging and research data.
Quality Assurance: Strong attention to detail and demonstrated ability to perform quality checks, identify discrepancies, resolve data issues, and maintain accurate documentation.
Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills required, with the ability to effectively communicate with study sites, investigators, research staff, and other stakeholders.
Organization: Strong organizational and time-management skills required, including the ability to manage multiple imaging workflows, priorities, and deadlines.
Confidentiality: Demonstrated ability to maintain strict confidentiality of patient information, clinical research data, and blinded study information.
Collaboration: Ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams and coordinate activities across multiple participating clinical research sites.
Training: Ability to assist with training site personnel on imaging submission procedures and study-specific requirements.
