Job summary

The CHEN Lab at the Department of Human Ecology within UC Davis is seeking a Research Assistant 1 to support studies on dyadic social and emotional processes using in-home wearable/mountable technology. You will participate in recruitment, data collection, and analysis, and assist with manuscript preparation and program documentation.

This 100% on-site role provides exposure to multidisciplinary methods, psychophysiology, behavioral coding, and surveys, with potential for graduate training in

Job description

Job Summary

This position in the Clinical Health, Emotion, and Neuroscience (CHEN) Lab will provide opportunities to be involved in all aspects of the research project(s) to examine dyadic social and emotional processes between clinical populations and their family members (e.g., spousal caregivers) with an emphasis in in-home wearable/mountable technology while also using psychophysiology, behavioral coding, and questionnaires. The position will provide experience in participant recruitment, data collection, and analysis, manuscript preparation, technology research, and, if applicable, preparing for graduate training in either basic science, clinical/health science, or both. Lower priority responsibilities include documentation creation and maintenance.

Qualifications
  • No Minimum Education required
  • There is no minimum of years of experience related to healthcare, laboratory, and/or clinical research required for this position.
  • Ability to work with a multidisciplinary team of researchers is required and professionalism and courtesy are required in all interactions with lab members, department staff, and supervisors.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent: Social Sciences, Scientific, Computational Science, or Related Field
  • 1-3 years of experience in (1) an experimental lab environment, clinical research, and/or conducting research in health science, (2) emotion, social behaviors, health, psychophysiology, neuroscience, and clinical aging, (3) in-home wearable/mountable technology research, and (4) computer programming and/or data management.
  • Familiarity with the laboratory's computer programs (e.g., SPSS, REDCap, Qualtrics, Microsoft Office) for data entry, data sharing, questionnaire creation, and study packet design.
  • Familiarity with writing computer codes for designing tasks, data management, and/or data analyses and ability to install, operate, and troubleshoot lab equipment, organize training and inter-departmental meetings to facilitate approval and installation of equipment/devices for data collection.
  • Familiarity with in-home wearable/mountable technology research and familiarity preparing and submitting documents, such as Institutional Review Board protocols.
