Job description

Research Associate / Senior Research Associate / Research Fellow in Non-Terrestrial Networks

The Smart Internet Lab is seeking a highly motivated researcher passionate about non-terrestrial network (NTN) research towards 6G. The research will focus on topics such as network architecture design for NTN and terrestrial network (TN) convergence, intelligent traffic steering algorithms, resource orchestration for performance assurance, and network resilience through protection and recovery techniques in integrated TN/NTN environments.

Responsibilities

You will conduct research on innovative AI/ML solutions, evaluate their trustworthiness, and implement experimental or proof-of-concept work for future telecommunication networks in areas including:

  • Intelligent algorithms for context-aware traffic steering between TN and NTN
  • TN/NTN orchestration for end-to-end service assurance and resource efficiency under dynamic conditions
  • Resilience solutions in integrated TN/NTN environments
Candidate Requirements

Applicants should have experience and a proven track record in:

  • Relevant scientific publications or practical experience
  • Communication network protocols and solid technical background
  • Network management and control expertise
  • Simulation-based networking research experience
  • Strong mathematical skills for optimization and analytical modeling

Proficiency in programming languages such as C++ and Python, as well as scripting languages, is required.
