Job summary

Carnegie Mellon University is seeking a Research Associate in the Lane Computational Biology Department to support development and execution of research projects, including experiment design, data analysis, and reporting results. You will input, manipulate, and record results using various software tools and maintain detailed records.

The role involves collaborating across computer science, biology, and statistics, presenting findings, and possibly programming software to support project needs.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • 1–3 years of research experience.
  • Strong communication, analytical and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

  • Uses a variety of software packages to input, manipulate, collect and record results or observations.
  • Performs research experiments following experimental protocol and procedures.
  • Researches and documents information by compiling and maintaining accurate and detailed records.
  • Summarizes statistical information for analysis, examination or presentation; writes technical reports.

  • May program software in support of job functions.
  • Attends project meetings.
