College/Department Information

Founded nearly 200 years ago in 1828 as the nation's fifth public medical school, the third medical school in the southeast and the thirteenth in the nation, the Medical College of Georgia at Augusta University is the state's only public medical school. The Department of Neuroscience & Regenerative Medicine at the Medical College of Georgia is committed to cutting-edge research and excellence in education. Our research addresses fundamental questions ranging from genetic, epigenetic, cellular and circuit regulation and tissue regeneration to pathophysiology of inflammaging, neurodegeneration, psychiatric disorders, CNS injuries using a broad repertoire of experimental approaches.

Job Summary

Participate in research data collection and documentation within relevant guidelines and protocols; develop and evaluate new research techniques and procedures; publish results in scientific journals. Perform a variety of complex chemical, biological, cytologic, microscopic, histologic, surgical, statistical/computational and dissection procedures. Will perform experiments using acute and chronic stress models, transgenic mouse models and high-fat diet model, performing behavioral tests evaluating depression, anxiety, PTSD, learning and memory. Will perform cell culture experiments.

Responsibilities

The duties include, but are not limited to:

Participate in research data collection and documentation within relevant guidelines and protocols; develop and evaluate new research techniques and procedures; publish results in scientific journals.

Perform a variety of complex chemical, biological, cytologic, microscopic, histologic, surgical, statistical/computational and dissection procedures.

Perform experiments using acute and chronic stress models, transgenic mouse models and high-fat diet model, performing behavioral tests evaluating depression, anxiety, PTSD, learning and memory.

Perform cell culture experiments.

Perform other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Master's degree from an accredited college or university in chemistry, biology, biochemistry, cell biology or other natural, life, health care or materials science directly related to the research area to which the position is assigned and experience in research, basic science or clinical laboratory particularly clinical trial research.

OR

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in chemistry, biology, biochemistry, cell biology or other natural, life, health care or materials science directly related to the research area to which the position is assigned and a minimum of three years' research and/or clinical experience .

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with writing manuscripts and presenting research work in meetings.

Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer software/databases.

Detail-oriented with strong organizational and prioritization skills.

Shift/Salary/Benefits

Shift: Days; Monday - Friday (Work outside of normal business hours may be required).

Pay Band: B8

Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of the selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position.

Recruitment Period: Until Filled.
