Job summary

The Ohio State University is seeking a Research Associate in the Medicine | School of Biomedical Sciences to support epilepsy-focused research. You will participate in planning, designing, and managing projects in a foundational lab under Dr.

Bin Gu, executing and refining experiments and methods across molecular biology and data analysis. You will coordinate activities of students and staff, analyze results, and contribute to publications, reports, and funding proposals.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent required.
  • 3 years of relevant experience with an Associate’s Degree, or 1 year with a Bachelor's Degree.
  • Ability to translate, adapt and apply academic knowledge in biological/health science research.
  • Experience with miRNA and RT-qPCR preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, design, and manage research projects in a foundational biology lab.
  • Design and execute complex laboratory experiments and analyses.
  • Perform advanced molecular techniques and data interpretation.
  • Manage and handle laboratory animals and experimental subjects.
  • Assist with manuscript preparation and grant proposals.

Responsibilities

Neuroscience Research Associate participates in planning, design, execution, and management of research projects in a foundational (basic) biological/health science research laboratory (Dr. Bin Gu) investigating epilepsy; participates in developing and implementing goals and objectives of studies; designs and executes complex laboratory experiments; performs advanced molecular and cellular techniques; manages and handles laboratory animals; collects, analyzes and interprets research data; assists with development and implementation of new and/or revised research methodologies and techniques; tests experimental designs, sampling techniques, and analytical methods and make recommendations for utilization; assists in establishment of controls, criteria and research standards; performs critical analysis of literature relevant to research being undertaken; assists in the preparation of research papers and manuscripts for publication and presentation at national and conferences and workshops, and in the writing of project reports, articles and other documents; assists principal investigator in the preparation of proposals to obtain new or renewal of extramural funding in support of research; coordinates laboratory activities and work assignments of postdoctoral researchers, graduate and undergraduate students, and laboratory research staff; oversees and coordinates periodic maintenance and testing of laboratory equipment; performs additional duties as assigned.

Requirements

Minimum Education Required Bachelor’s Level Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Required Qualifications Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience required; 3 years of relevant experience required with Associate’s Degree, or 1 years of relevant experience required with Bachelor's Degree.

Ability to translate, adapt and apply academic and/or practical knowledge in the conduct of biological/health science research is required.

Experience in a biological/health science research capacity is preferred. Research experience with miRNA and reverse transcription quantitative PCR is preferred.
