Job Title: Research Associate Level I – Grounds Endowed Chair for Christian Counseling (Temporary/Part-Time)

Reports To: Vernon Grounds Endowed Chair for Christian Counseling

Location: Remote

Pay: $18.31

General Statement of Job Function

The Research Associate Level I will support the Vernon C. Grounds Endowed Chair for Christian Counseling by contributing to ongoing research projects focused on topics in counseling, psychology, and mental health. This role involves assisting in both qualitative and quantitative research, including literature reviews, data collection and coding, and statistical analysis. The Research Associate will utilize research tools such as SPSS, NVivo, Excel, and survey platforms like Qualtrics or Google Forms. This is a temporary (mid May – end of June), part-time (10hrs a week) position.

In addition to data management and analysis, the associate will help foster collaborative research partnerships with counseling centers and other mental health institutions. The position also supports the preparation of research publications, presentations, and grant proposals. Depending on project needs, the role may include occasional travel and offers flexibility to work in a remote or hybrid setting.

Essential Functions
  • Provides the assistance necessary to support the research activities of the endowed chair
  • Assists in the development of research partnerships
  • Prepares research materials
  • Conducts and analyze research data
  • Assists in the presentation and dissemination of research results (travel may be required)
  • Completes other projects or logistical assistance as requested
Education/Training
  • Denver Seminary student preferred
  • Assistant must show proven skills in research and administrative support
  • An undergraduate degree or its equivalent is required
  • A current student of the counseling division, PhD or MA, is preferable
Qualifications
  • Committed personal relationship with Jesus Christ required and a lifestyle consistent with the Seminary’s Community Values and Behavioral Commitments
  • Agreement with Denver Seminary’s statement of faith
  • High proficiency in an applicable subject matter is expected
  • Excellent verbal, written, research and computer skills required
Skills and Competencies
  • Strong organizational and administrative abilities
  • Proficiency in research methods and data analysis tools (e.g., SPSS, Excel, NVivo)
  • Ability to manage multiple projects with attention to detail
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

Typical Physical Demands and Working Conditions

Normal office working conditions including computer usage may require occasional standing, walking, long periods of sitting, climb stairs, balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
