Job summary

RBC Capital Markets LLC in New York seeks a Research Associate to perform fundamental analysis of Internet sector companies. You will build detailed financial models, coordinate research reports and presentations, and support analysts.

Requires an undergraduate degree in Business/Mathematics or related quantitative field and FINRA licenses (Series 7, 63, 86, 87, SIE). Strong writing, data skills, and teamwork are essential.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain detailed financial models for target companies.
  • Coordinate, generate and maintain research reports, presentations and databases.
  • Provide research support to analysts as required.
  • Develop expertise in the Internet Sector.
  • Respond to client queries related to the sector.
  • Conduct proprietary channel check work.
  • Identify operational risks and control deficiencies in the business.
  • Review and comply with firm policies applicable to business activities.
  • Escalate risk events and deficiencies to line manager and risk functions.

What is the Opportunity?

Research Associate responsible for fundamental analysis of companies in the Internet Sector.

What will you do?
  • Assist in the development and detailed modeling of company specific financial models

  • Coordinate, generate and maintain research reports, presentations and databases

  • Provide research support to analyst as required

  • Develop an expertise in the Internet Sector

  • Support and answer client queries as they relate to the sector

  • Conduct proprietary channel check work

  • Proactively identify operational risks/ control deficiencies in the business

  • Review and comply with Firm Policies applicable to your business activities

  • Escalate operational risk loss events, control deficiencies and risks that you identify to your line manager and the relevant risk and control functionspromptly

What do you need to succeed?
Must have:
  • Undergraduate degree or similar qualification with a focus on Business, Mathematics or other quantitative fields

  • FINRA Licensing Requirements - Series 7, 63, 86, 87, SIE

Other Required Qualifications:
  • Undergraduate degree or similar qualification with a focus on Business, Mathematics or other quantitative fields

  • Previous exposure to equity research/capital markets or 1-2+ years of experience within the Internet, Telecommunications/Datacenter, or other TIMT sectors

  • Excellent writing and communications skills

  • Strong PC skills specifically in Microsoft Office applications and sourcing data from the internet and various technology publications

  • Superior customer service focus and attitude for internal and external clients

  • Ability to perform under pressure and meet time sensitive deadlines, sometimes for extended periods of time

  • Commitment to task and an attention to detail

  • Ability to prioritize work and multi-task responsibilities

  • Self-starter - must be organized and able to work independently and often with abstract/complex concepts

  • Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work and coordinate effectively within a team environment

  • External clients as required

WORKING CONDITIONS
  • The work environment is based on an office/trading floor, thus little physical effort is required

The expected salary range for this particular position is $100,000 - $160,000, depending on your experience, skills, and registration status, market conditions and business needs.
