Job description

The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Virginia is accepting applications for research associate position for fast magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) methods for brain MRI.

The Computational Biomedical Imaging Group (CBIG) pursues research on the development of new algorithms for the reconstruction and post-processing of medical images. Active research areas include image reconstruction, image analysis, and quantification. Research efforts are taking place at two complementary levels: the development of mathematical tools for imaging, and applied projects in collaboration with clinical researchers for magnetic resonance imaging.

The position will be funded by NIH awards on high-resolution brain relaxometry and MR spectroscopic imaging using machine learning; candidates with experience in these areas are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities
  • Develop MRI pulse sequences for fast MRI
  • Develop novel theory, algorithms, and demonstrate its application to MR imaging
  • Publish results in high-impact journals
  • Mentor graduate and undergraduate students
