Job summary

Crown Bioscience in San Diego, CA invites a Research Associate to support biomarker studies within a dynamic, global biomarker team. You will perform histology, immunohistochemistry, and related assays, process tissue samples, and help analyze data to meet project timelines.

The ideal candidate has a BS in biotechnology or related field, hands‑on histology experience, and proficiency with MS Office and basic statistics.

Qualifications

  • BS or higher in biotechnology, cell biology, immunology, oncology or related field.
  • Hands-on histology and slide-based lab work experience.
  • Ability to perform routine histological procedures and IHC.
  • Knowledge of basic histological principles in oncology.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and familiarity with statistical analysis.
  • At least three years of combined experience in immunohistochemistry or pathology.

Responsibilities

  • Perform histology, pathology, IHC, spatial transcriptomic, and fluorescent slide assays.
  • Support additional techniques such as flow cytometry, proteomics, hematology, NGS.
  • Record experimental processes and data; submit timely reports to supervisors.
  • Analyze, summarize, and report experimental data to supervisors.
  • Communicate effectively within the biomarker team and with other departments.
  • Support daily laboratory operations and manage biomarker lab facilities as needed.

Additionally, it maintains an extensive biobank of liquid and human biospecimens, complete with clinical histories.Operating from 11 facilities in the US, Europe, and APAC—including laboratories accredited by the College of American Pathologists (CAP) and the International Organization for Standardization (ISO)—Crown Bioscience upholds the highest standards of quality and reliability in its research environments.SummaryThe purpose of the Research Associate position is to provide support on biomarker studies to meet the company's goals, objectives and quality standards.Responsibilities- Responsible for a variety of histology, pathology, immunohistochemistry, spatial transcriptomic, and fluorescent slide assays.- Other duties may include a variety of experiments such as flow cytometry, pathology/IHC, proteomics, hematology, NGS- Carry out work in strict accordance to SOPs and training sessions.- Carefully record the experimental process and data and submit timely reports to supervisors.- Analyze, summarize, and report experimental data and relevant documents to supervisors.- Effective communication within the global biomarker team and with other departments.- Participate in the support and daily management of the laboratory team.- Manage biomarker lab facilities according to experiment needs and quality systems.- Be able to fulfill other tasks assigned by leaders.Minimum Requirements- B.S. or above in biotechnology, cell biology, immunology, oncology or other related disciplines.- Hands on experience (minimum 1 year) with histology and slide-based lab work- Able to operate routine histological procedure such as tissue grossing, samples embedding, sectioning, chemical staining, IHC, IF, etc.- Knowledge of basic histological principles, especially related to oncology.- Proficient in using MS Office software and familiar with statistical analysis and the application of related analysis software.- At least three years of combined experience in a field related to immunohistochemistry or pathology.Preferred Requirements- Good communication skills and a positive attitude.- Lab supervisory or management experience (stocking, validation, quality assurance, etc.)- Eager to learn new and advanced techniques.The California salary range for this position is: $27 – $31.25Crown Bioscience is committed to a diverse and inclusive workplace.
