Job summary

The Henry M. Jackson Foundation for the Advancement of Military Medicine (HJF) seeks a Research Associate II to perform research and development in collaboration with scientific staff.

This role supports the One Health Vector Diagnostic Section, Entomology Branch at Walter Reed Army Institute of Research (WRAIR) in Silver Spring, MD, focusing on cultivating Plasmodium falciparum parasites to sustain high mosquito infections.

Qualifications

• Master’s Degree in a science-related field.
• Minimum 3–5 years of experience in a research lab.
• Knowledge of Biological Safety Level 1 and 2 procedures.

Responsibilities

• Conducts research in collaboration with other scientific and technical staff.
• Performs complex laboratory tests, determinations, and analyses.
• Assist with cryopreservation of human RBCs and preparation for in vitro studies.
• Cultivate malaria parasites in vitro and maintain infected mosquitoes for studies.
• Prepare mosquitoes for infectious feeds and collect samples for analysis.
• Maintain lab records and provide progress reports.
