Research Associate - Eberwine Lab

The Department of Pharmacology at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seeks candidates for a Research Associate position in the Academic Support Staff. This appointment will be initially for one (1) year and continuation during that time period and renewal are based on satisfactory performance and availability of funding (limited to three (3) years). Expertise is required in the specific area of multiphoton/confocal imaging, live cell imaging, live cell culturing, preparing primary brain cell cultures, experience with live cell physiological process monitoring using genetic and extracellular biosensors, have experience in working with RNA. Applicants must have a Ph.D. degree.

Responsibilities may include preparing and performing dispersed brain cell primary culture and multiphoton imaging of live cellular processes.

The successful applicant will have an opportunity to primarily carry out a research program in Dr. James Eberwine's lab. The position will also allow the candidate to grow as an independent scientist and gain eligibility to apply for funding through different mechanisms.

Must be willing to work in a collaborative manner, must be able to teach methodologies to others, must keep detailed notes on experimental procedures as well as data analysis.

Position is contingent upon funding.
