Research Associate, Analytical Development (CONTRACT POSITION)
Position Overview:
Sutro Biopharma, Inc. is seeking a Research Associate to join our chromatography assay development team which supports Sutro’s clinical candidate pipeline of antibodies, antibody drug conjugates, and additional novel protein/conjugate therapeutics with primary focus on early-stage programs.
Responsibilities:
  1. Perform routine chromatography assays to support upstream, downstream, and formulation process development.
  2. Process and interpret data from assays to communicate and present to internal and external colleagues.
  3. Assist with the development of chromatography assays for characterization of recombinant proteins such as antibody derivatives.
  4. Operate within our analytical group to perform chromatography-based assays to support upstream/downstream development and formulation development.
  5. Perform routine maintenance and troubleshoot HPLCs and other separations-based instrumentation.
  6. Work with moderate supervision while also working collaboratively within the Analytical group and across functional groups.
  7. Contribute to product characterization studies as well as perform routine release assays.
  8. Communicate their data both verbally at group meetings and through written documents and reports.
  9. Contribute to method development and has a technical understanding of HPLCs used for the analytical methods and assays.
  10. Work diligently and patiently to run chromatography-based assays with attention to detail.
  11. Help support assay optimization and assay qualifications/assessments.
Qualifications:
  1. BS in analytical chemistry, biochemistry, or related scientific field and 1-3 years of industry experience in the analysis and characterization of monoclonal antibodies/antibody drug conjugates by plate-based assays.
  2. Previous experience with chromatography is preferred.
  3. Proficiency in operation of HPLC-based software is preferred.
  4. Flexibility to work on multiple projects between departments in a fast-paced environment is essential.
  5. Excellent verbal communication, strong writing skills, and being detail-oriented are important attributes.

The anticipated salary range for fully qualified candidates applying for this role at Sutro Biopharma’s California based locations will be [$78,000 – $85,000]. The base salary offered will vary depending on the market, job-related knowledge, skills and capabilities, and experience.
