Research Associate

Research Associate will perform technical procedures, restrain animals, operate laboratory equipment, collect specimens, and record data on laboratory animals as specified in protocols and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), in compliance with GLP standards. Support study supervisors and directors by assisting with sample and data collection on research studies.

What You’ll Do Here

1. Follow SOPs and protocols to perform procedures on study and stock animals, including clinical observations, food consumption, body weights, urine collection, administering injectable anesthesia, mating procedures, blood draws, dose administration, euthanasia, catheter placement, restraint, enrichment, feeding, and food removal.
2. Follow written and verbal instructions, including SOPs, protocols, and daily schedules.
3. Record, enter, and review raw data for studies and facilities.
4. Set up procedures and maintain ancillaries on study animals.
5. Operate laboratory equipment such as glucometers, Harvard pumps, and digital thermometers.
6. Monitor and report changes in animal behavior or health, and issues in animal rooms to the appropriate personnel.
7. Maintain cleanliness and organization of work areas.
8. Report study changes to the study director and relevant staff.
9. Review and contribute to SOPs related to animals, procedures, and facilities.
10. Opportunities for cross-training in other departments.
11. Perform necropsies.
