I. DEPARTMENT INFORMATION

Job Description Summary:

A Research Associate position, focused on adolescents, is available in the Department of Global Health with Dr. Sarah Baird’s research group. The research group focuses on all aspects of life as an adolescent in low- and middle-income countries, with a focus on both quantitative and qualitative research.

This Research Associate will carry out research activities for an international study funded by FCDO and led by ODI , to support data collection and data analysis across mixed methods cohorts in Bangladesh, Ethiopia and Jordan.

Using a certain degree of creativity and latitude, the core responsibilities of this position include managing research activities, analyzing data, and interpreting results. This person in this role must be familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the field of global health and must be able to work with an extensive team of colleagues across the globe.

Specific responsibilities will include:

  • Support endline data collection, data cleaning, and analysis
  • Attend regular GAGE quantitative hub meetings.
  • Develop quantitative tables for endline reports
  • Prepare technical reports and manuscripts for peer-reviewed publications.
Perform other related duties as assigned. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position. The Research Associate will be supervised day-to-day by the Principal Investigator (Dr. Sarah Baird). The initial appointment is for one year, with opportunity for an extension after successful completion of the one year.

Minimum Qualifications:

Qualified candidates will hold a master’s degree and 1 year of experience in a related discipline. Degree must be conferred by the start date of the position.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in public health, epidemiology, or related field.
  • Excellent project coordination and organizational skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in data analysis using Stata or R.
  • Experience living or working outside the US and/or working with international partners.
  • Commitment to working in multidisciplinary teams, developing and maintaining positive relationships with co-workers and international collaborators.
