Job summary

Neogen Corporation in Michigan is seeking a Research Associate to analyze analytical samples and report results promptly, contributing to process improvements in the lab.

You will prepare reagents, monitor instruments, coordinate cross-functional activities, and present findings at R&D meetings, supporting projects from concept through execution.

Qualifications

  • BS in Biochemistry or Chemistry, with 1-3 years laboratory experience preferred.
  • >1 year of experience with HPLC preferred.
  • Experience quantifying analytes in food matrices with SPE or immunoaffinity columns.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines with accuracy.

Responsibilities

  • Prioritize and analyze samples using standard internal methods while meeting internal and external deadlines.
  • Test method and process improvements and provide a summary of results to senior team members for review and planning of future experimental path.
  • Prepares all reagents necessary for instrumentation.
  • Track instrument performance and provide minor maintenance as needed.
  • Orders necessary materials to ensure timely completion of analyses and projects. Ensures that all purchases are coded to the appropriate project budget.
  • Coordinates activities between departments (Manufacturing and QC) that are essential for development or improvement of products.
  • Make presentations of experimental results at regular R&D group meetings.
  • Reports research activities at R&D meetings.
  • May serve as the R&D representative on project teams.
  • Stays abreast of science related to analytical methods and instrumentation.
  • Knowledge of food safety diagnostic industry is helpful.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage deadlines while maintaining a high degree of accuracy and precision.
  • Ability to work effectively as a member of a project team, interacting with members of other departments including other R&D groups, Sales & Marketing, Business Development, Manufacturing, Quality Control and Technical Service.
