Department: Pharmacological & PharmaceuticalSciences Salary: Commensurate with experience
The Department of Pharmacological and Pharmaceutical Sciences(PPS) at the University of Houston seeks highly qualified ResearchAssistant Professor to investigate the molecular and cellularmechanisms regulating skeletal muscle mass, regeneration, andproteostasis in cancer cachexia and other muscle-wastingconditions.
The successful candidate will join a highly collaborative andmultidisciplinary research program focused on understanding howinflammatory, metabolic, and stress-responsive signaling pathwaysregulate skeletal muscle homeostasis. Current projects employ abroad range of approaches including transgenic mouse models, cancercachexia models, skeletal muscle stem cell biology, multi-omicsanalyses, molecular signaling, and translational studies aimed atdeveloping therapeutic interventions for muscle wasting.
Ph.D., M.D., or equivalent degree in muscle physiology with minimal5 years of post-doctoral experience in skeletal muscle biology, cancer cachexia, metabolism, inflammation, or related areasdemonstrated by a strong publication record in peer-reviewedjournals. Experience with mouse models and molecular biologytechniques such as transcriptomics, proteomics, bioinformatics, orsingle-cell technologies is required. The candidate is expected tohave ability to work independently and contribute to collaborativeresearch efforts.
