Job summary

Boston Children's Hospital's Osterweil lab is seeking a Research Assistant to join a fast-paced translational team studying neurodevelopmental disorders using human brain slices and mouse models.

You will gain hands-on experience with advanced molecular and cellular techniques including qPCR, immunohistochemistry, electrophysiology, and in vivo imaging while contributing to collaborations with investigators and clinician scientists.

Qualifications

• BA/BS in Biology, Neurobiology or related field.
• Minimum of one year of relevant research experience.
• Experience with molecular biology techniques and rodent colony management is a plus.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, organization and record-keeping skills.

Responsibilities

• Maintenance of mouse colonies, including breeding and genotyping.
• Molecular biology assays including qPCR.
• Immunohistochemistry and confocal imaging.
• Assisting in mouse behavioral tasks and in vivo electrophysiology.
• Support of laboratory operations (ordering supplies, equipment maintenance, lab representation, animal protocol upkeep).
