Job summary

Loyola University Chicago is seeking a Research Assistant II in the Uchida Lab on the Maywood Health Sciences Campus. The role focuses on studying how cardiomyocytes remodel their cytoarchitecture under stress, using super-resolution microscopy on rodent models.

The ideal candidate has a bachelor’s degree in biological/physical sciences and 1–2 years of lab experience, with strong communication skills and a drive to learn. This is a fully in-person research position with mentorship opportunities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree required.
• 1–2 years of related experience preferred.
• Hands-on laboratory experience in tissue culture, animal work, microscopy, qPCR, or western blotting is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Learn and perform experiments under supervision.
• Record, organize, and analyze experimental data.
• Present data through figures and written results.
• Maintain organized lab space and place orders as needed.
• Communicate effectively with team members.
• Stay informed by reading literature and attending seminars.
