Job Summary

This is a Cardiac Imaging Research Assistant position starting June 1, 2025. The research assistant (RA), working under the supervision of the study Principal Investigator and following established policies and procedures, provides assistance for cardiac imaging research studies (echocardiography, magnetic resonance imaging, Positron Emission Tomography, and Single Photon Emission Computed Tomography). The RA will work in clinical areas of BWH and will require strong organization skills, professionalism, self-motivation, and an ability to work independently. There will be training in all required tasks initially and throughout the project.

Qualifications

The RA may be responsible for activities such as recruiting and evaluating potential participants for clinical trials, collecting, entering, and organizing patient data, scheduling patients for study visits, submitting paperwork for subject payment checks, contacting patients for follow-up, maintaining and updating imaging and research data, and assisting the PI in the IRB submission process.

Inclusion of molecular imaging and novel investigational drug therapy studies.

The RA may need to travel locally to Boston area medical institutions including Boston University, Tufts Medical Center, and Massachusetts General Hospital.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate a multicenter study (6+ sites) and occasionally travel to study sites.
  • Assist PI in coordinating research efforts, recruiting, and evaluating potential study patients, conducting telephone interviews, scheduling visits, and screening.
  • Assist with all aspects of clinical trials, including IRB preparation, IND applications, patient scheduling, budget prep, and maintaining patient accrual data.
  • Respond to inquiries regarding study protocol, refer participants as appropriate.
  • Coordinate activities related to imaging, research staff, and data management.
  • Complete study documentation, respond to sponsor requests, and ensure GCP and HIPAA compliance.
  • Market and educate residents and fellows about ongoing trials, disseminate materials, and communicate with primary care physicians.
  • Understand and utilize Radiology and Hospital Information Systems.
  • Work with clinical teams on inpatient recruitment and coordinate regulatory activities with Research Administration and IRB.
  • Develop and implement patient recruitment strategies with research leadership.
  • Maintain safety standards regarding ionizing radiation and other hazards.
Education

Bachelor's Degree in Science required.

Experience

New graduates with some relevant coursework (0-1 year preferred).
