Research Assistant I (Night Shift) - Center for Translational Injury Research (Finance)

The Center for Translational Injury Research (CeTIR) aims to lead in developing next-generation medical technologies related to hemostasis, resuscitation, and computerized decision support for trauma patients.

The typical schedule for this position is from 6:00 PM to 6:00 AM (12-hour shifts), including weekends and holidays.

Position Summary:

Under the close supervision of senior research staff, supports research projects by conducting various activities.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Conducts research activities according to protocols, including patient recruitment, screening, laboratory experiments, informatics, field recruiting, and animal lab work.
  2. Maintains laboratory equipment and work areas for safety and efficiency.
  3. Collects, evaluates, and interprets research data; updates notebooks, records, and databases.
  4. Stays informed about new and updated research protocols.
  5. Orders supplies as directed.
  6. Coordinates work of laboratory technicians and assistants to ensure quality results.
  7. Adheres to all policies, rules, regulations, and codes.
  8. Performs additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Skills:

Basic knowledge of research fields.

Minimum Education:

Bachelor's degree or relevant experience in lieu of degree.

Minimum Experience:

No prior experience required.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or 10 pounds constantly. Work may involve handling hazardous chemical, biological, or radioactive agents.

Security Sensitive:

This position may be security sensitive and subject to Texas Education Code § 51.215.

Residency Requirement:

Must reside and work in Texas permanently.
