Job Description:

The Research Assistant I position will include operating laboratory equipment, performing experiments including, but not limited to, molecular and cellular biology, in vivo approaches using murine models; analyzing research materials including published scientific literature; collecting, organizing, analyzing and presenting data; assisting the lab investigator in writing summaries of acquired data, and helping manage inventories and stock supplies.

Responsibilities:
  • Conduct wet bench experiments designed by the laboratory investigator and assist lab members with their experiments.
  • Perform RT-qPCR, Western blot, molecular cloning, flow cytometry, tissue culture work, immunofluorescence, confocal imaging, harvest primary cells, work with murine models, maintain murine colonies, and prepare data for these studies.
  • Perform dry bench work such as data analysis, presentation, and management.
  • Use Excel and Prism to statistically analyze and present data.
  • Assist with providing data and figures for manuscripts with the investigator.
  • Maintain all supplies to ensure required materials are stocked.
  • Receive and properly handle reagents.
  • Perform maintenance and troubleshooting on scientific equipment.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements:

A bachelor's degree in an appropriate area of specialization and two years of experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Ability to communicate clearly through oral presentation and technical writing.
  • Knowledge of research and laboratory equipment appropriate to the area of assignment.
  • Ability to multitask and work in a team environment.
  • Experience in gene cloning, DNA transfection, and FRET Assay.
