Job summary

The University of New Mexico Health Sciences Center in Albuquerque seeks a Research Assistant to join Dr. Gurdeep Singh’s ophthalmology lab.

You will perform epigenetics and molecular biology tasks and contribute to publications, with on-site work through July 31, 2027. This on-call role supports a team researching AMD and ocular/metastatic cancers, with opportunities to work with students and postdocs, gain data collection experience, and participate in literature reviews and experimental

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED; no previous experience required.
• Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.
• Preferred: Bachelor’s degree enrollment in final year.
• Ability to work occasionally on weekends as lab needs dictate.

Responsibilities

• Perform various lab & technical tasks for ongoing research studies and routine epigenetics and molecular biology laboratory techniques.
• Support trainees/students (undergrad, PhD, MD students and post-doc) in projects focused on uveal melanoma, cancer epigenetics, and AMD.
• Collect, process, and coordinate data, samples, tissue dissections, new protocols, etc.
