Job Overview

The Division of Cardiovascular Health and Diseases is seeking a full-time Research Assistant. The role focuses on basic and translational research to understand mechanisms of platelet dysfunction, megakaryocyte proplatelet formation, and inflammation in cardiovascular disease patients. Responsibilities include processing patient samples, cell isolation, cell culture, flow cytometry, confocal microscopy, and data analysis. Experience with RNA/DNA isolation, Western blot, and PCR is preferred.

Essential Functions
  • Perform experiments and record data according to research protocols.
  • Interpret data and assist in evaluating its validity; may perform statistical and graphical analysis.
  • Assist in animal colony management and husbandry.
  • Apply research principles to less complex assignments.
  • Perform related duties as needed; job description may change.
Required Education
  • Bachelor’s Degree.
  • Five (5) years of relevant work experience or specialized training may substitute for education.
