Job summary

Avantor is seeking a dedicated Research Assistant to optimize our Biopharma/R&D operations at our Bridgewater, NJ location. The role requires hands-on experience with analytical techniques and instrument maintenance to support method validation and QC testing.

The ideal candidate will have a High School Diploma, 1+ year of collaboration experience, and strong computer skills. Travel to other Avantor sites may be required as part of project needs.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma required.
  • 1+ year of collaboration experience (Office tools like Microsoft Office, Minitab).
  • Strong PC/ Macintosh computer skills.
  • Compliance with safety, environmental and quality policies/procedures.
  • Familiarity with analytical techniques used in method validation (HPLC/UPLC, GC-FID, GC-MS; wet chemistry).
  • Preferred: participating in project check-ins and adjusting plans to meet deadlines.
  • Preparing reports/publications/oral presentations to advance projects and resolve issues.
  • Hands‑on knowledge of Empower, MassLynx, ChemStation, OpenLab and Mass Hunter Software.
  • Developing/validating/transferring analytical methods for QC labs for cGMP/compendia testing and stability studies.
  • Maintaining knowledge of cGMP, Compendia, FDA, ICH and regulatory requirements.

  • Follow written procedures for sample analysis.
  • Operate instruments safely under supervision.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA and company standards.
  • Keep equipment neat and lab organized.
  • Clean labware and the lab.
  • Enter test results into e-notebook and keep records.
  • Ensure stock levels of consumables.
  • May travel to alternate Avantor sites.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Job description

The Opportunity:

Avantor is looking for a dedicated Research Assistant to optimize our Biopharma / R&D organization. This is a fulltime position based out of our Bridgewater, NJ location. If you have analytical techniques experience – let’s talk!

What we are looking for:
  • Education: High School Diploma.
  • Experience (1+ year): Collaboration skills (IE: Microsoft Office, Minitab).
  • Computer skills (IE: PC/ Macintosh).
  • Complying with all safety, environmental and quality policies/ procedures.
  • Familiarity with analytical techniques used in test method validation (HPLC/UPLC, GC-FID, GC-MS; Wet chemistry analytical techniques)
  • Additional Experience (Preferred): Participating in project check-in meetings and adjusting plan/activities based on feedback to meet project deadlines.
  • Preparing reports, publications and oral presentations to advance projects or resolve process/product issues and customer complaints.
  • Hands‑on knowledge of Empower, MassLynx, ChemStation, OpenLab and Mass Hunter Software.
  • Developing, validating and transferring analytical methods to internal and external QC laboratories for cGMP/Compendia finished goods release testing and stability studies/shelf‑life determination.
  • Maintaining knowledge of cGMP, Compendia, FDA, ICH and other regulatory agency requirements.

  • Perform operations such as buffer prep, filtration and chromatography using chemicals (both hazardous and non-hazardous).
  • Follow written procedure for sample analysis.
  • Operate instruments safely and efficiently under supervision of Scientists.
  • Comply with company standards and OSHA requirements.
  • Maintain equipment in a neat, clean and orderly fashion.
  • Clean labware and the lab.
  • Ensure all documentation and test results are entered into e- notebook.
  • Keep accurate records and reports in e-notebook.
  • Ensure proper stock levels of consumables.
  • May travel to alternate Avantor sites.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Pay Transparency:

The expected pre-tax pay for this position is $43,500.00 - $69,575.00. Actual pay may differ depending on relevant factors such as prior experience and geographic location.
