Job summary

Mayo Clinic is seeking an Animal Care Technician in Rochester, MN to perform essential animal husbandry duties for research animals. This role requires independent work, adherence to NIH and animal care guidelines, and the ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods.

High school diploma required; 1–2 years of animal handling preferred. After 2 years, certification as ALAT is recommended. This is a full-time, on-site position with Mayo Clinic’s comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• Certification (ALAT) recommended after 2 years on the job.

Responsibilities

• Provide quality care to animals used in research; perform animal husbandry tasks including feeding, watering, sanitation, observation, and room cleaning.
• Follow NIH Guide for the Care and Use of Animals and AALAC/IA/AAALAC guidelines.
• Work independently and with others to complete duties as assigned.
