Job summary

Case Western Reserve University is seeking an Animal Husbandry Technician to care for research animals, monitor health, and document conditions per AAALAC and regulatory guidelines. The role supports researchers and veterinary staff in maintaining animal welfare and accurate records.

You will work within the Animal Resource Center, performing routine husbandry tasks, using data software, and ensuring proper cage, water, and food management in a regulated environment.

Qualifications

• High school education required.
• Experience with animals preferred.
• Ability to handle multiple animal species including rodents, rabbits, dogs, cats and livestock.
• Strong oral and written communication and teamwork skills.
• Willingness to learn new concepts and computer programs.

Responsibilities

• Feed and water animals; change cages and observe health; report abnormalities.
• Inspect animals daily and report issues to supervisor and veterinary staff.
• Use a tablet to perform health observations, inventory and daily checklists.
• Maintain clean animal rooms according to USDA and AAALAC guidelines.
• Record and label postmortem data; assist with handling and treatment of animals.
• Follow ARC policies and complete required trainings.
