Job summary

The University of Vermont is seeking an Animal Care OC1 N to perform day-to-day care of animals in the university’s research facility. The role requires following established SOPs, updating records, and assisting with medical treatments as needed.

Strong adherence to animal welfare standards and regulatory guidelines is essential. Anticipated Pay Range $18.50 - $20 per hour with non-exempt status and non-standard work hours.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• A valid driver’s license and UVM drivers check is required.
• Experience handling and caring for animals desirable.

Responsibilities

• Care for animals in the University animal research facility under SOPs and institutional policies.
• Operate autoclave and cage cleaning equipment and follow proper animal care/housing procedures.
• Update and maintain husbandry records and monitor animal health daily.
• Assist technicians with medical treatments as needed.
• Follow The Guide for the Care and Use of Laboratory Animals and comply with applicable regulations.
