Job summary

TTUHSC Libraries is seeking a Research & Education Librarian to teach evidence-based practice, conduct mediated searches across biomedical databases, and build relationships across the health sciences center. You will co-develop and teach electives, deliver reference services via LibChat and in-person, and contribute to LibGuides while supporting systematic reviews and scholarly communication.

This full-time role is based in Lubbock, TX, offering collaboration and impact on education and patient

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required; supervisory experience or equivalent combination.
  • MLS/MLIS from an ALA-accredited program preferred.
  • Experience searching health/biomedical databases.
  • Experience teaching evidence-based practice or medicine concepts.
  • Experience with reference management software (EndNote, Zotero, Covidence).
  • Experience supporting systematic reviews or evidence synthesis.
  • Experience in an academic health sciences or hospital library.
  • Familiarity with research impact metrics or funder public-access policies.

Responsibilities

  • Provide expert, mediated literature searches across biomedical databases to support clinical, research, and curricular needs.
  • Partner on systematic reviews and evidence synthesis projects, developing, documenting, and translating reproducible search strategies using established methodology (PRISMA, Cochrane, JBI).
  • Co‑develop and teach the MSIV library elective course.
  • Co‑develop and teach evidence‑based medicine skills to School of Medicine clerkship students.
  • Deliver reference and research assistance through LibChat, virtual, and in‑person channels, and support citation and reference management tools.
  • Develop and maintain LibGuides content in your areas of responsibility.
  • Serve as liaison to assigned schools and departments, and support library outreach and community engagement.
  • Track and analyze reference and instruction data (LibInsights) and use it to demonstrate the library's contribution to educational, research, and clinical outcomes.
  • Serve on library and HSC committees, such as curriculum and search committees.

Research & Education Librarian – TTUHSC Libraries

Unit Manager, full‑time staff position, reports to Associate Managing Director.

TTUHSC Libraries support the education, research, and clinical missions of six health sciences schools, serving about 5,000 students and nearly 1,000 faculty across Lubbock, Amarillo, and Odessa.

We are looking for a librarian who will teach evidence‑based practice, run expert searches that shape research and patient care, and build lasting relationships across a dynamic academic health center.

Responsibilities
  • Provide expert, mediated literature searches across biomedical databases to support clinical, research, and curricular needs.
  • Partner on systematic reviews and evidence synthesis projects, developing, documenting, and translating reproducible search strategies using established methodology (PRISMA, Cochrane, JBI).

  • Required: Bachelor’s degree plus three years of supervisory experience, or a combination of education and supervisory experience equal to seven years.
  • Preferred: MLS/MLIS from an ALA‑accredited institution.
  • Training and/or experience searching health and biomedical sciences databases and resources.
  • Experience teaching evidence‑based practice or evidence‑based medicine concepts.
  • Experience using reference management software (EndNote, Zotero, Covidence).
  • Experience supporting systematic reviews or other evidence synthesis.
  • Experience in an academic health sciences or hospital library.
  • Familiarity with research impact metrics, scholarly communication, or funder public‑access policies.
