Job description

Full-Time | On-Site | Greater Boston, USA

I'm hiring a Research & Development Lead to join a growing, international Structural Heart medical device company developing innovative catheter-based technologies for cardiovascular interventions. With expanding US operations, this is an opportunity to take ownership of technical R&D investigations and contribute directly to the ongoing development and improvement of next-generation medical devices.

You'll become the primary US-based R&D representative, working closely with an international engineering team to investigate device performance and technical issues arising during clinical procedures. This is a hands-on engineering position focused on failure analysis, root cause investigations, bench testing and evaluating device behaviour from an R&D perspective.

The opportunity offers significant technical ownership and independence within a growing MedTech organisation. You'll work across R&D, Quality and Clinical teams, investigating product-related issues, reviewing procedural information, conducting engineering evaluations and translating findings into meaningful product improvements. You'll also take responsibility for the US R&D laboratory, with exposure to patient-specific anatomical assessments, imaging and simulated-use testing.

Key experience:
  • 4+ years of R&D, product development, sustaining engineering or technical investigation experience within the medical device industry.
  • Strong hands‑on engineering background, including device troubleshooting, failure analysis, root cause investigations and bench testing.
  • Experience investigating device performance issues and translating technical findings into engineering conclusions and product improvements.
  • Familiarity with medical device design controls, verification and validation, and regulated development environments.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to independently manage complex technical investigations.
  • Experience collaborating cross‑functionally with R&D, Quality, Regulatory, Manufacturing or Clinical teams.
  • Cardiovascular, Structural Heart, catheter‑based or other invasive medical device experience advantageous, but not essential.
  • Exposure to medical imaging, anatomical modelling, simulated‑use testing or clinical procedure investigations beneficial, with training available.
