Solvita is seeking a Research and Development Intern/Co-Op to assist with ongoing projects in allograft development and processing method improvements. You will collect data, analyze results, and help transition processes to production.

Under supervision, you will prepare reports and manuscripts for review, support pre-clinical work, and ensure compliance with regulatory standards. Strong communication and teamwork are essential.

Qualifications

  • Pursuing BS in engineering, chemistry, biochemistry, physiology or related science.
  • Ability to solve technical problems and analyze data.
  • Detail oriented with strong documentation and communication skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications.

Reports To:

Research and Development Manager

PRIMARY PURPOSE:

Responsible for assisting on research and development projects. Collaborates with both internal and external entities.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  1. Assists on projects within Process Engineering and Development related to new allograft development, recovery, and processing method improvements.
  2. Collect and analyze data using statistical tools.
  3. Assist in transitioning new/improved processes into production.
  4. Assists with the preparation of reports and manuscripts for publication internal or external review.
  5. Assists with surgical procedures in support of pre-clinical research projects as needed.
  6. Ensure compliance with regulatory authorities, following standard practices and procedures.
  7. Provide recommendations for work instructions, job aids and policies, and assist in modification/development of same.
  8. Performs other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
  • High School diploma and currently enrolled in a Bachelor of Science degree program (or higher) from an accredited university in an applicable discipline (i.e., engineering, chemistry, biochemistry, physiology, etc.) or other closely related scientific area.
  • Ability to solve and analyze technical problems and give recommendations.
  • Detail oriented, organized, and capable of accurately documenting work using excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong PC skills including Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, Access, Power Point).
  • Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships across functional organizations.
WORK ENVIRONMENT and PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES
  • Position requires exposure to gross anatomy.
  • Must be able to meet the required physical demands with or without reasonable accommodation.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience with biomechanical testing of musculoskeletal tissue.
  • Experience with cell/tissue culture, histology, and/or executing biochemical assays.
  • Previous exposure to human anatomy/physiology.
  • Experience using aseptic technique in clinical or scientific environment.
  • Experience in a regulated industry.
