Job description

Rescue Technician at SET Environmental

The Rescue Technician is responsible for ensuring site safety and providing technical rescue standby for customer projects, including confined space rescue and technical rope rescue.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Assess potential hazards and draft written rescue plans.
  2. Identify and communicate potential hazards to all affected parties.
  3. Determine hazard controls and emergency contingency plans; make recommendations as needed.
  4. Ensure safety equipment and PPE are available and in good condition.
  5. Conduct daily job briefings with customers and team members.
  6. Maintain rescue equipment through proper handling, inspection, cleaning, and preventative maintenance.
  7. Monitor areas for hazardous conditions.
  8. Assist with emergency First Aid as required.
  9. Serve as Supplied Air Bottle Watch, Fire Watch, and Confined Space Attendant.
  10. Perform other duties as necessary.
Position Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent (preferred).
  • 1 year of experience in safety, rescue, hazmat, or industrial settings (preferred).
  • Availability to travel out of state.
  • Valid Driver's License with a good driving record.
  • Proficiency with SCBA and other respirators.
  • Ability to work under stress and in tight spaces/heights.
  • Willingness to continue training and education.
  • Ability to respond to out-of-town projects.
  • Proficiency in English (reading, writing, speaking).
  • Ability to perform physical labor as directed.
  • Industry/construction experience (preferred).
  • Passing DOT physical, including drug screening.
  • Proficiency with computers and mobile apps.
  • Certifications (preferred): OSFM Rope Operations, Confined Space, Hazardous Materials, ICS, Medical Responder/Technician/Paramedic, TWIC, OSHA 30, among others.
