Resale Store Associate - GAP Ministries

JOB SUMMARY: Main duties include ringing up sales, bagging items, requesting price checks, honoring coupons, collecting payment, and giving change. Responsible for cash register drawer counts at each shift's end, maintaining receipts, records, and withdrawals. The role involves assisting customers and maintaining a professional appearance of self and the store.

The ideal candidate will be energetic and friendly, committed to creating a professional yet loving atmosphere, and eager to serve alongside staff and volunteers to support our recovery program and community. The Resale Store General Staff reports to the Resale Store Assistant Manager. This is a part-time, non-exempt position.

MISSION AND SERVICE:

Exemplify and support GAP Ministries’ Mission, Mission Statements, and Core Values. Demonstrate attributes such as servant leadership, communication, respect, accountability, integrity, teamwork, and a positive attitude. Adhere to the Code of Conduct and Ethics policy.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Maintain a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
  • Assist in store operations, including processing donations and displaying merchandise.
  • Open and close the store; be available for varied hours, including early mornings, evenings, and weekends.
  • Accept, sort, and price donations per store policy.
  • Follow cash handling policies and procedures.
  • Support management in daily store operations.
  • Uphold the store's positive image.
  • Maintain proper inventory and organized storage areas.
  • Assist with customer inquiries via phone.
  • Perform light cleaning tasks as needed.
  • Uphold biblical standards in all job aspects.
  • Foster cooperative relationships with co-workers and members.
  • Follow store policies, city, county, and state sales regulations.
  • Participate in training sessions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.
QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Pass a background check.

REQUIREMENTS:
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • At least 18 years old.
  • Pass FBI fingerprint and criminal background checks.
  • Grow in leadership and spiritual life.
  • Basic math skills.
  • Adhere to attendance, dress code, and performance standards.
  • Be aware of sales goals and work towards them daily.
  • Available for varied hours, including mornings, evenings, weekends.
  • Professionalism, courtesy, tact, sound judgment.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Pass drug screening; workplace is drug-free.
  • Perform physical tasks as required.
  • Complete Human Resource documentation.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Regularly required to talk, hear, use hands, stand for extended periods, walk, sit, reach, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Must lift/move up to 50 pounds. Vision abilities include reading and typing. Noise level is moderate.
