As part of a Joint Venture team supporting a large Transportation Authority, we are seeking a Requirements Engineer to join one of the most significant transportation infrastructure programs in California.

This is an exciting opportunity to support the management and verification of technical requirements on a complex, multidisciplinary rail transit project while collaborating with industry-leading engineers and subject matter experts.

As a Requirements Engineer, you will play a key role in supporting the project's requirements management program, helping ensure compliance with client, regulatory, and technical requirements throughout the design process. Reporting to the Design Integration Manager, you will work closely with Design Managers, Discipline Leads, and Subject Matter Experts to maintain requirements traceability and support successful project delivery.

Key responsibilities:
  • Support the development, maintenance, and administration of the project requirements database for design deliverables.
  • Capture and organize requirements derived from design criteria, technical specifications, standards, and project documentation.
  • Collaborate with Design Managers, Discipline Leads, and Subject Matter Experts to ensure requirements are accurately allocated and maintained.
  • Support day-to-day requirements management activities across the project.
  • Develop and maintain Requirements Verification Traceability Matrices (RVTMs) for project deliverables.
  • Review and evaluate compliance evidence to confirm requirements verification and validation activities.
  • Perform quality control reviews of RVTMs to ensure completeness, accuracy, and consistency of:
    • Requirement attributes
    • Requirement allocations and ownership
    • Verification status and dates
    • Compliance documentation
    • Supporting comments and evidence
  • Ensure approved requirement changes are captured, tracked, and implemented within the requirements management system.
  • Support continuous improvement of requirements management processes and project controls.

Candidate Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline.
  • 5+ years of relevant industry experience.
  • Hands-on experience with Requirements Management (RM) software, specifically IBM DOORS Next Generation.
  • Experience supporting requirements management activities on large-scale infrastructure, transportation, or rail transit projects.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team environment.
  • Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.
Preferred experience
  • Experience on major rail transit, transportation, or infrastructure projects.
  • Familiarity with systems engineering principles and requirements verification processes.
  • Experience developing or maintaining Requirements Verification Traceability Matrices (RVTMs).
  • Understanding of configuration management, change management, and technical compliance processes.

This position is located in San Jose, CA. You must be able to reliably commute to our office in this location, per our hybrid working policy.

Benefits & Rewards

The expected salary for this position is $96,000 - $118,000.

Individual pay is determined based on several factors such as work location, education, experience, and unique skills.
