Job summary

Right of Way Agent

Location: Butler, PA Region — Candidates should reside within approximately 2 hours of Butler.

Appalachian Field Services (AFS) is a leading provider of right of way consulting services supporting electric transmission and distribution infrastructure projects throughout the eastern United States. Our team provides land acquisition, title research, project management, document preparation, construction support, and geospatial technology services for some of the nation's largest utility companies.

We're looking for motivated, organized professionals who enjoy working with people, solving problems, and learning new technology. The ideal candidate possesses strong interpersonal and communication skills, is highly organized, and is comfortable using computers and modern software applications. Previous Right of Way experience is welcomed but not required — we provide comprehensive training for individuals with the right attitude and aptitude.

Position Summary

The Right of Way Agent works directly with property owners to acquire easements and other property rights needed for utility infrastructure projects. This position serves as the primary representative between our utility clients and landowners, helping explain projects, answer questions, negotiate agreements, and maintain positive relationships throughout the acquisition process.

Successful candidates are self-starters who enjoy working independently, managing their own schedules, learning new technology, and interacting with people from all walks of life.

What You'll Do
  • Meet with property owners to explain utility projects and answer questions.
  • Negotiate easements and other property rights.
  • Build professional relationships with landowners and community members.

  • Coordinate with project managers and supervisors to meet acquisition schedules.
  • Review maps, legal descriptions, and project exhibits.
  • Utilize company databases, mapping software, and digital tools to manage project information.
  • Travel throughout assigned project areas to meet with landowners.
  • Represent AFS and our clients with professionalism and integrity.
What We’re Looking For

Previous Right of Way experience is not required. We are looking for individuals who demonstrate:
