Responsibilities

• Load recycled paper onto pulper conveyor and remove bindings.
• Operate forklift to move bales of fiber.
• Clean and organize pulper area daily.
• Control water flow to achieve target pulp consistency.
• Operate a compactor and dump trash per procedures.
• Record hourly bale usage and report to supervisor.
• Comply with Sabert's food safety standards.
• Fill in as machine operator during breaks and cover shifts.
• Record KPI metrics if required.

JOB SUMMARY:

This position is for night shift (B1 Forming). The Repulp Operator is responsible for dumping the paper onto a conveyor to fill the pulping machine. Throughout the day, they will monitor paper, water, and chemical levels to ensure the consistency of the pulp.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND REPONSIBILITIES:

• Adhere to all applicable regulations, policies, and procedures for health, safety, environmental compliance, and follow all PPE and food regulation standards.
• Place recycled paper on pulper conveyor, as the process demands, cut, and remove binding from the paper as it is placed on the conveyor.
• Drive fork-lift and clamp truck to move bales of fiber.
• Conduct daily cleaning and organization of pulper area.
• Push buttons and turn valves to admit water to specified consistency.
• Operate a compactor to remove trash and dumps trash bales into dumpster.
• Must be comfortable around heavy machinery.
• Work with maintenance to fix issues.
• Unload paper trucks and maintain record of paper unloaded.
• Record hourly bail usage.
• Report necessary information to supervisor.
• Comply with plant food and safety standards.
• Effectively perform machine operator duties on any machine, filling in as needed and during breaks.
• May be asked to record KPI (Key Performance Indicators) metrics.
• Other duties as required.

Requirements

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Prior work experience as an Operator, 6 months to 1 year with mechanical experience.
• The incumbent must have basic operating knowledge and understanding of computer systems.
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or graphic form. Ability to deal with problems involving more concrete variables in standardized situations.
• Written and oral in English is required.
• Must have working knowledge of equipment design and capabilities, product layouts production specifications, product quality specifications and quality standards.
• If needed, you will be required to maintain a current Lift Truck Operator License.
• Able to read a tape measure with speed and accuracy, able to calculate figures and amounts. Able to apply concepts of high school math.
• Must be able to stand, walk, talk, and hear. Frequently required to use hands, fingers, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
• Employees must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
• Must have good attendance, be a team player, and be able to work overtime as required.
• Ability to multitask in fast paced warehouse environment.
• Ability to work standing for extended periods.
• Ability to read and comprehend instructions.

PHYSICAL AND ENVIROMENTAL EXPECTATIONS:

• Safety glasses, hearing protection, harness, beard cover and steel-toed shoes are required.
• In addition, task specific PPE may be required.
