Job Description

This role involves investigating complex and highly complex claims, typically including single or multi-car accidents and litigated or represented claims. The individual may also handle specialized claims such as business interruption, loss of income, or Errors and Omissions (E&O) policies. Responsibilities include overseeing litigation, taking recorded statements, resolving loss of use claims, making payments, and negotiating or referring bodily injury issues that cannot be resolved.

This is a remote, home-based position within the United States, excluding California, Alaska, and Hawaii. The primary handling states are likely NJ, NY, and PA, with a preference for candidates on Eastern or Central time zones.

Key Responsibilities

1. Summarize documents and enter notes into the claim system.
2. Manage and resolve complex customer communications and concerns.
3. Review medical reports for claim settlement evaluation.
4. Respond to or participate in insurance department investigations.
5. Negotiate and settle claims following business best practices.
6. Set and update reserves, document rationale, and maintain claim notes.
7. Determine coverage limits and claim values for complex claims.
8. Document claim files with evaluations and decision processes.
9. Refer litigation cases to Defense Counsel and oversee discovery.

Qualifications

• Experience handling casualty claims and litigation is required.
• Claims experience in NY, NJ, PA preferred.
• 2-5 years of handling severe Bodily Injury claims required.
• Experience with litigation claims required.
• Strong communication skills, especially over the phone.
• Ability to work independently and remotely.
• Knowledge of insurance policies and liability.
• Critical thinking and negotiation skills.
• Familiarity with claims evaluation tools and platforms.

Education

4-year Bachelor's Degree preferred; equivalent experience may be considered.

Additional Requirements

• Possibly obtain an adjuster and/or appraiser license within 60 days of hire.
• Dedicated home workspace, internet bandwidth of at least 50 MB down/5 MB up, and appropriate work furniture.
• Company provides necessary technology equipment and an $80/month internet reimbursement.

Compensation

Annual salary ranges from $57,500 to $100,212.50, based on experience and qualifications.
