We are looking for a Representative Payee Specialist for our busy human services agency in Christiansburg, VA. This position is responsible for managing the financial affairs of individuals receiving representative payee services. Duties include monitoring and maintaining individual financial accounts, processing payments online and/or preparing checks, providing clients with spending funds by check or transfer, monitoring account balances and applicable resource limits, and ensuring funds are used appropriately for the benefit of each individual. The Representative Payee Specialist will also enter and maintain client financial transactions in QuickBooks, including monthly bills, personal spending, medical expenses, and other expenditures; maintain accurate financial records; and communicate with Lead Representative Payee clients’ financial needs.
Experience in accounting, finance, administrative support, or a related field is preferred. Strong attention to detail, proficiency with Excel and Word, and the ability to work independently are required. Knowledge of accounting software, representative payee services, social services, and QuickBooks is a plus.
A required criminal background check must result in no Barrier or Financial Crimes.
This is a part-time position working approximately 20 – 25 hours per week with the potential to move to full time after a probationary period.
