Job summary

Trinity Health in Silver Spring is seeking a Part-time Representative I, Patient Access to support patient registration processes. You will verify demographic and financial information for inpatients and outpatients, delivering excellent service to patients, families, and physician offices.

The role requires strong communication, computer proficiency, and the ability to handle payments and insurance notifications, with occasional lab/radiology order entry.

Qualifications

• High School graduate or GED.
• Fluency in English; Spanish preferred.
• Experience in a hospital or health care setting, preferably in registration, billing, cash collections or insurance requirements.
• Proficiency in computers; Microsoft products and email.
• Typing skills of 45 wpm or higher.
• Excellent telephone customer service skills, strong interpersonal communication, problem solving and organizational skills.
• Willingness to transport patients by wheelchair, meet patient age-specific needs.

Responsibilities

• Obtain and verify demographic and financial information for inpatients and outpatients during registration.
• Provide excellent customer service to patients, family members, physician offices, third party payers and co-workers.
• Communicate financial/insurance information to case management and financial counseling staff; complete managed care notification requirements.
• Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to hospital privacy and security policies.
• May enter laboratory and radiology orders when necessary.
• Assess patient financial status and obtain signatures on required forms and collect payments prior to or at service.

Location: Silver Spring

Position Purpose

• Responsible for obtaining and verifying demographic and financial information for all inpatients and outpatients prior to or during the registration process.

As a “Representative I, Patient Access” You Will

• Excellent customer service skills are utilized in all dealings with patients, family members, physician offices, third party payers and co-workers.
• Financial/insurance information is communicated to case management and financial counseling staff when appropriate. Completes all managed care notification requirements.
• Maintains patient confidentiality and always adheres to hospital privacy and security policies.
• May be required to enter laboratory and radiology orders, when necessary.
• Minimizes the financial risk of providing services by assessing the patient’s financial status, verifying and entering accurate patient information into the registration system, obtaining signatures on all required hospital and regulatory forms and obtaining applicable patient payments prior to or at the time services are provided.

Minimum Qualifications

• High School graduate or GED
• Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in both verbal and written form. Fluency in both English and Spanish preferred. Spanish may be required for this position in specific settings.
• Experience in a hospital and/or other health care setting, preferably in registration, billing, cash collections or insurance requirements. Familiarity with third party/insurance payers and medical terminology preferred.
• Proficiency in the use of computers. Specifically, Microsoft products and email.
• Typing skills of 45 wpm or higher required.
• Excellent telephone customer service skills, strong interpersonal communication, problem solving and organizational skills.
• Willingness to transport patients by wheelchair, meet patient age-specific needs,
• Ability to stand for long periods of time.

Pay Range: $17.65 - $23.85

Pay is based on experience, skills, and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. The pay range may also vary within the stated range based on location.
