Together we are on a mission to rescue millions, protect half a billion, and make justice unstoppable.

We are a global community that cares for one another. We believe that the way we work is as important as the results we achieve. We provide professional excellence with joy and celebration to all those we serve.

The Need

For over 25 years, IJM has pioneered the work to protect vulnerable people from violence. 9 out of 9 times in the last decade, IJM’s Justice System Strengthening Projects have reduced slavery and violence between 50 and 85% for very large populations of people in poverty. As we grow to expand our impact to protect 500 million people from violence, we are seeking a Representative, Gift Processing.

IJM is seeking a detail-oriented individual to coordinate IJM’s donation data management and gift acknowledgement processes from beginning to end, with an eye for both operational effectiveness and donor experience. The successful candidate will be an effective problem-solver with experience in data management, data quality, administration and non-profit fundraising in a fast‑paced, professional environment and must maintain confidentiality of privileged and sensitive information.

This position is based in the Washington D.C. area and reports to the Data Quality & Compliance Senior Manager.

Responsibilities
Gift Data Management
  • Ensure accurate and timely entry of all gift information from checks, cash, credit cards, wire transfer, EFT and stock donations into IJM’s constituent database, to meet the needs of IJM’s donors, fundraising and accounting teams;

  • Facilitate company matching gifts and the processing of data from other workplace giving programs;
  • Maintain procedures to ensure data compliance with financial policies including restricted giving, refunds and receipting;

  • Communicate with teams about their events and campaigns to ensure we are set up to correctly process their gifts;
  • Communicate with all teams as gift questions arise;
  • Clean up various data associated with giving in Salesforce;
  • Liaise with the IJM’s Finance department to reconcile discrepancies between various sources of information including IJM’s online systems, accounting database and banking records.
Gift Acknowledgements
  • Lead on and ensure timely and accurate delivery of all gift acknowledgements to donors, coordinating with volunteers, other staff and interns, when applicable.
  • Implement new systems as they are developed to implement new fundraising strategies for acknowledging various types of donations.
  • Identify and recommend technology and system improvements that would reduce costs, increase efficiency and allow for scaling as volume is expected to grow rapidly over the coming years.
Team Administration
  • Maintain filing systems for donor records and authorizations that require paper documentation.
  • Manage inventory of all materials needed for gift acknowledgements and other program needs.
Requirements
  • 2 years of professional experience in database management, administration, accounting or a similar role preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree.
