About the Role

As a Senior Technical Program Manager (TPM), Cost & Efficiency, you'll lead cross-functional initiatives to manage, analyze, and optimize Discord’s infrastructure and data costs. This role combines technical acumen with strong program management and strategic influence, ensuring our engineering operations scale efficiently while maintaining best-in-class user experience.

You’ll work closely with infrastructure, data, ML, and product teams, influencing everything from cloud vendor relationships to query cost management and cost-to-serve analysis.

What You’ll Do

• Infrastructure Cost Optimization – Collaborate with engineering and ML teams to implement cost-reduction strategies across compute, storage, and networking
• Data Query Efficiency – Partner with data science and engineering teams to identify and minimize high-cost data queries
• Cost-to-Serve Analytics – Deliver actionable insights by analyzing how much key product features cost to operate
• Build a Cost Attribution Platform – Lead efforts to improve cost observability, laying the foundation for real-time cost awareness and alerting
• Capacity Planning – Manage cost-efficient capacity management with major cloud vendors
• Partner with Product Teams – Evaluate financial implications of new feature development and deployments
• Vendor Management – Lead vendor negotiations and account oversight, ensuring favorable cost structures and strong partnerships
