Job summary

Coastline Recovery Services is seeking experienced repossessors or tow truck drivers transitioning into repossession to cover the Los Angeles market. You will locate, recover, document, and report vehicle status while representing the company professionally to lenders and vehicle owners.

The role offers licensing assistance, hands-on training, and a pathway to growth as operations expand. Full-time work with strong earning potential and company-provided equipment are available.

Qualifications

• Comfortable working independently outdoors and during evening/overnight hours as needed.
• Physically able to operate recovery equipment and perform hook-ups in varied conditions.
• Must pass a background check.

Responsibilities

• Safely and legally recover vehicles in default according to California repossession law and company policy.
• Operate tow/lift recovery equipment to complete recoveries in varied real-world conditions.
• Verify vehicle identification (VIN, plate, condition) matches recovery documentation before completing a recovery.
• Maintain accurate, detailed condition reports (photos and notes) on every vehicle recovered.
• Complete all required recovery paperwork and system documentation the same day as each recovery.
• Communicate recovery status to dispatch in real time throughout each shift.
• Maintain professionalism and de-escalation skills when interacting with vehicle owners and lenders.
• Know when and how to disengage from unsafe situations and report them immediately.

THE ROLE

Coastline Recovery Services is hiring full-time Repo Drivers / Repossessors to cover the Los Angeles market, with real earning potential and room to grow. We welcome experienced repossessors, and we’re also glad to train the right candidate — tow truck drivers with hands-on equipment experience are an especially easy transition into this role.

A typical shift starts with a list of assigned recoveries. You locate the vehicle, confirm it matches your paperwork, safely complete the recovery, document the vehicle's condition, and move to the next assignment — all while representing the company professionally in every interaction.

COMPENSATION & EARNING POTENTIAL

Pay scales with experience and productivity — the more vehicles you recover, the more you earn.

• Average agent: $120,000+/year


• Top performer: up to $170,000/year

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

FIELD RECOVERY OPERATIONS:

• Safely and legally recover vehicles in default according to California repossession law and company policy

PUBLIC INTERACTION & PROFESSIONALISM:

• Maintain professionalism and de-escalation skills when interacting with vehicle owners, who may be upset or distressed


• Represent the company and our lender clients professionally in every interaction, on and off a recovery scene


• Know when and how to disengage from a situation that becomes unsafe, and report it immediately

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Experienced repossessor, OR a tow truck driver willing to train and transition into repossession work


• Must be eligible for California repossession (repo) agent licensing — company provides licensing assistance if not yet licensed


• Clear, valid California driver's license with a clean driving record — required to qualify for coverage under company insurance policies


• Comfortable working independently, outdoors, and during evening/overnight hours as needed


• Physically able to operate recovery equipment and perform hook-ups in varied real-world conditions


• Must pass a background check

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (NOT REQUIRED)

• Active repossession experience (we welcome inquiries from repossessors currently employed elsewhere)


• Prior tow truck driving, field collections, or law enforcement-adjacent experience


• Existing California repossession license


• Familiarity with the greater Los Angeles area

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORK ENVIRONMENT

• Ability to operate tow/lift recovery equipment, including bending, lifting, and connecting equipment to vehicles


• Ability to work outdoors in varied weather conditions and at varied times of day or night


• Comfortable driving and working independently for extended periods, including overnight when scheduled


• Ability to remain calm and professional in occasionally tense, unpredictable field situations

TRAINING & ONBOARDING

Experienced repossessors can start contributing quickly. Tow truck drivers transitioning into the role complete hands‑on training covering California repossession law, safe and legal recovery procedures, equipment operation, de‑escalation techniques, and required documentation. We also provide licensing assistance for candidates who are eligible but not yet licensed.

CAREER GROWTH

Repo Drivers who perform consistently and demonstrate strong judgment in the field are often considered first for team lead and training roles as our Los Angeles team grows. If you have no experience, candidates interested in starting out in a spotter vehicle to learn the ropes, as the company is willing to train the right person.
