Job summary

Minnesota Public Radio | American Public Media invites a Reporting Fellow for MPR News in Saint Paul, MN. This immersive program supports crafting radio, web and social stories while building newsroom skills.

You will cover assignments, develop enterprise reporting, and learn to produce audio journalism with guidance and feedback from mentors. Eligibility includes a bachelor's degree or relevant experience.

Qualifications

Completed bachelor's degree or at least two years of relevant professional experience in journalism or communications.
Available full-time (40 hours/week, Mon-Fri, 11 a.m.–7 p.m.) throughout the fellowship.
Ability to work nights and weekends as assigned.
Knowledge of reporting and journalism ethics fundamentals.
Willingness to conduct in-person interviews and talk to the public and officials.
Ability to research and interpret records and other source materials.

Responsibilities

Cover general assignment, trending stories and breaking news as assigned.
Track and pitch stories related to topics Minnesotans are talking about most.
Develop enterprise and daily stories on a sub-beat or area of interest.
Tell stories for radio, web and social channels with high-quality audio and visuals.
Report regularly from the field, including recording press conferences and interviewing eyewitnesses.
