Job summary

Southern Ute Indian Tribe in Ignacio, CO seeks a multimedia journalist to produce newsworthy video, audio, and photo reports for Tribal Information Services and The Southern Ute Drum. Under general supervision, you will capture interviews, events, and topics important to the tribe and its membership.

This position requires an enrolled tribal member, an AA in fine arts or related field (or 3 years experience), FAA Part 107 certification, proficiency with video and editing software, archival

Qualifications

• Must be an enrolled Southern Ute Tribal Member.
• Must have AA degree in Fine Arts, Multimedia or related field OR 3 years of experience.
• Must have experience with video capture, video production, video editing programs, and creating promotional materials.
• Must have a Remote Pilot Certificate (FAA Part 107).
• Must be able to create accurate archival records.
• Must have current knowledge and skill using computer software programs including Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Must be able to work flexible hours and schedules to accommodate Southern Ute Drum assignments, event coverage and meet publication deadlines.
• Must have a valid Driver’s License for state of residency and be insurable under the Tribal Vehicle Insurance Policy.
• Must pass a thorough background check including Criminal History and fingerprint check.

Position Summary

Responsible for creating newsworthy multimedia projects. Under general supervision of the Media Manager , reports on and captures through multimedia means (video, audio, and photo) interviews, issues, events, and topics important to the Southern Ute Tribe and its membership. Produces concise, professional multimedia clips for publication through Tribal Information Services and The Southern Ute Drum . This position is a grade N11; pay starts at $25.05/hourly.

Education And Experience

• Must be an enrolled Southern Ute Tribal Member.
• Must have an AA degree in Fine Arts, Multimedia or a related field OR 3 years of experience.
• Must have experience with video capture, video production, video editing programs, and creating promotional materials.
• Must have a Remote Pilot Certificate (FAA Part 107).
• Must be able to create accurate archival records.
• Must have current knowledge and skill using computer software programs including Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Must be able to work flexible hours and schedules to accommodate Southern Ute Drum assignments, event coverage and meet publication deadlines.
• Must be willing to work evening hours, holidays, weekends, and overtime.
• Must have a valid Driver’s License for state of residency and be insurable under the Tribal Vehicle Insurance Policy.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in journalism, fine arts or related field.
• Published work as a multimedia journalist reporting on topics/events.
• Experience with Adobe Premier, Rush, Lightroom and Photoshop.
• Experience with Macintosh/Apple computers (iMac and/or MacBook).
• Experience with WordPress and Vimeo content management system.
• Positive experience interacting with all age groups including Tribal Elders.
• Successful experience in teaching/ training, community outreach, public presentations, and eventpromotion.
• Advanced proficiency in computer programs such as Word and Excel; internet searching; website editing; presentation software such as PowerPoint and Publisher; proficiency in scanning documents and using electronic storage and filing systems.
