Job summary

The Columbus Republic is seeking full-time news reporters to cover sports, education, government and other beats in Columbus, Indiana. Our team emphasizes community journalism and timely reporting for both print and digital platforms.

Two years of newspaper experience is preferred; recent graduates with strong clips are encouraged to apply. You will write under deadline pressure, develop sources, and contribute to print and online content daily.

Job description

The Columbus Republic, an award-winning newspaper in south-central Indiana, is looking for full-time news reporters (sports, education, government, etc.).

Our news organization deeply values community journalism and audience engagement, utilizing print and digital to deliver our message every day. The Republic covers the city of Columbus and Bartholomew County, including regional stories from surrounding counties. We are part of HD Media LLC, a group of daily and weekly newspapers having a presence in other Central Indiana counties.

One or two years of newspaper experience is preferred but recent journalism graduates with strong clips are also encouraged to apply. Candidates must be versatile, be able to analyze information and write well, cover beats, work well under deadline pressure. Our reporters generate story ideas, cultivate sources and provide content for print and digital online products.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $17.50 - $20.00 per hour
