Job summary

Spirit AeroSystems, Inc. is seeking a skilled scheduler to manage schedules for aircraft component repairs and overhauls, aligning with delivery commitments and cost forecasts. This role ensures optimal use of staff, tools, and spaces while maintaining strict FAA compliance.

The position requires FAA knowledge, a repair station background, and leadership to prioritize multiple concurrent tasks in a fast-paced environment. DOT safety sensitivity and pre-employment testing apply.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of related work experience
  • Must have working Knowledge of FAA 14 CFR Parts 21, 39, 43, 65, 91, 121, 135, and 145.
  • FAA Part 145 Repair Station experience
  • Must pass a FAA drug and alcohol pre-employment test.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Aviation, Engineering, or related field
  • Experience in both metal structure and composite repair
  • Understanding of applying Lean tools
  • Analytical, demonstrated ability to deconstruct requirements and prioritize accordingly
  • Strong leadership ability
  • A focus on continuous process improvement

Responsibilities

  • Manages schedule of aircraft component repairs and overhauls in relation to personnel, skills, tools, equipment, parts, materials, and work areas.
  • Oversees work operations required and the tooling, equipment, materials, employee skills, and hours necessary for their accomplishment.
  • Plans, recommends, and coordinates the sequencing and allocation of workload for efficient use of staff, skills, and space.
  • Supervises non-routine work into scheduled workload; assigns jobs according to the skills, experience, and training of mechanics; develops requirement forecasts; investigates recoverability of parts and components and determines appropriate repair or overhaul processes.
  • Reviews job progress and makes adjustments to planned schedule to meet changing workload conditions.
  • Development and presentation of production and business metrics (units in process, inventory, status/history, workloads).

Overview

This role is at Spirit AeroSystems, Inc. a wholly owned subsidiary of The Boeing Company, supporting Spirit’s Commercial Business Units (“Spirit Commercial”). Spirit Commercial designs and builds commercial aerostructures, including for Boeing Commercial Airplanes, one of Boeing’s three business units and the premier manufacturer of commercial jetliners for decades. Spirit Commercial’s core products include fuselages, pylons, nacelles and wing components, with a focus on innovative composite and aluminium manufacturing solutions.

Responsibilities
  • Manages schedule of aircraft component repairs and overhauls in relation to the availability of personnel, skills, tools, equipment, parts, materials, and required work areas consistent with the customer contracted delivery schedule and cost forecasts.
  • Oversees work operations required and the tooling, equipment, materials, employee skills, and hours necessary for their accomplishment.
  • Plans, recommends, and coordinates the sequencing and allocation of workload for efficient use of staff, skills, and space.
  • Supervises non-routine work into scheduled workload; assigns jobs according to the skills, experience, and training of mechanics; develops requirement forecasts; investigates the recoverability of parts and components and determines appropriate repair or overhaul processes.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • DOT safety sensitive position and requires participation in a DOT drug screen and random screenings
  • 5+ years of related work experience
  • Must have working Knowledge of FAA 14 CFR Parts 21, 39, 43, 65, 91, 121, 135, and 145.
  • Must have FAA Airframe Certificate or the ability to obtain a FAA Repairmen certificate.
  • FAA Part 145 Repair Station experience
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and effectively work multiple simultaneous assignments in a fast-paced environment
  • Must pass a FAA drug and alcohol pre-employment test.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Aviation, Engineering, or related field
  • Experience in both metal structure and composite repair
  • Understanding of applying Lean tools
  • Excellent interpersonal skills working cross functionally across teams
  • Analytical, demonstrated ability to deconstruct requirements and prioritize accordingly
  • Strong leadership ability
  • A focus on continuous process improvement
  • Exceptional time management skills
  • Working knowledge of Root Cause Corrective Action processes
  • Familiar with Aircraft CMM and SRM
  • Knowledge of 14 CFR Parts 43 and 145

Summary Pay Range: $94,450 - $144,800
