Job description

Carbel, part of Arvato, is a full-service 3PL provider serving national and international clients across various industries, with a strong focus on fashion and retail.

The Repair Technician is responsible for independently performing audits, troubleshooting, repairs, and preventive maintenance on automated material handling system components within the Fulfillment Center. This role follows all company guidelines and safety practices while supporting smooth product flow and operational efficiency. The Repair Technician also partners with the Technician III to ensure fulfillment operations are maintained and operational goals are met.

Responsibilities
  1. Independently perform troubleshooting, repairs, audits, and preventive maintenance on automated material handling systems.
  2. Assist senior technicians in diagnosing mechanical and electrical issues using technical schematics and diagnostic tools.
  3. Install, maintain, and repair 3-phase electrical systems up to 480VAC.
  4. Conduct routine maintenance and corrective repairs in accordance with safety and quality standards.
  5. Resolve mechanical and controls-related issues to minimize operational downtime.
  6. Support general facility maintenance including lighting, minor plumbing, electrical, and furniture relocation.
  7. Complete work orders and documentation accurately via paper or computer-based systems.
  8. Maintain a clean and safe work area, including conveyor systems and maintenance zones.
  9. Safely operate at heights of 40 feet or more and use powered industrial equipment (certification required).
  10. Track and help maintain inventory of company-supplied tools.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED preferred; equivalent experience or military service will be considered. Associate degree (AAS) in Engineering or related field, or equivalent technical experience preferred.
  • 3–5 years of experience in mechanical/electrical troubleshooting, installation, or maintenance.
  • Strong knowledge of low-voltage controls, electrical systems, and mechanical components.
  • Proficient in reading schematics, blueprints, and understanding technical documentation.
  • Able to work flexible hours including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Familiarity with Lockout/Tagout and safety protocols.
  • Physically able to bend, lift, stand, walk, and handle freight in varying temperatures.
  • Hands-on experience with conveyor systems, sortation equipment, and preventative maintenance processes.
  • Capable of safely operating manual and powered handling equipment.
  • Certifications such as Journeyman or Master Electrician, CMRP, or CMRT are preferred.
  • Experience with CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems).
  • Working knowledge of PLCs and external I/O devices; Allen Bradley and/or Siemens systems preferred.
  • Network troubleshooting experience is a plus.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Experience working with third-party vendors, facility service providers, or contractors.
  • Prior experience in fulfillment centers or industrial maintenance environments, ideally within Arvato or similar logistics settings.
  • Must possess visual acuity to read fine print as needed.
  • Must be able to hear and understand verbal instructions.
  • Must possess capability to walk or stand for extended periods.
  • Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds.
  • Must be able to push or pull carts of up to 200 pounds.
  • Must be able to climb stairs.
  • Must be able to bend, stoop, kneel, and grasp products.
