Repair Technician I - Wichita Kansas

Position Summary
  • No previous instrument repair experience required; we will train you!
  • This is an entry-level position.
  • Perform surgical instrument inspection, repair, and refurbishment in a field-based setting, working out of mobile repair trucks at Customer sites and regional labs.
  • Deliver quality repairs to ensure compliance and customer satisfaction.
  • Occasional overnight travel may be required.

This is a remote, customer-facing role supporting an assigned territory in Kansas. Candidates must be based in Kansas.

What You'll Do as a Repair Technician I
  • Perform basic to intermediate repairs of surgical instruments, including ultrasonic function, metallurgy, buff and polish, bending, shaping, sharpening, hinge points, serrations, and brazing.
  • Demonstrate quality performance in advanced repair techniques.
  • Provide invoicing and documentation as needed.
  • Work primarily inside a mobile repair truck, with frequent hospital visits.
  • Support various locations based on service agreements and customer needs.
  • Follow all safety policies, use PPE, and complete safety observations.
  • Operate the mobile lab safely, adhering to all protocols.
Experience, Skills, and Abilities Needed
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 2+ years of work experience, including at least 1 year relevant experience, or 1 year at STERIS.
  • Related certifications or military experience considered.
  • Relevant experience includes repair, assembly, product testing, small engine repair, electronics, carpentry, circuit board repair, maintenance, automotive repair, etc.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds and push instrument carts up to 150 pounds.
  • Flexible schedule, including nights and weekends as needed.
  • Minimum age 21, valid driver’s license, acceptable driving record.
  • Pass DOT medical exam and conduct safety checks.
Relevant Work Experience

Experience with repair, assembly, testing, or use of small tools is a plus. Relevant fields include electronics, automotive, maintenance, and construction.
