Job summary

Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is seeking a Repair Technician 2 in Silverdale, WA. You will disassemble, sandblast, paint, repair, assemble and test launcher hardware, and perform preventive and corrective maintenance on equipment. A valid license to operate pendant‑controlled cranes, trucks, and forklifts is required, with ordnance safety procedures strictly followed.

Repair Technician 2 – Northrop Grumman Mission Systems

Location: Silverdale, WA – relocation assistance may be available. Clearance required: Secret (interim clearance prior to start, maintain thereafter). Travel: Yes, approximately 10% of the time.

As a Repair Technician 2 on the Underwater Launcher System team, you will disassemble, sandblast, paint, repair, assemble, and test launcher hardware. You will perform preventive and corrective maintenance on equipment, read and follow drawings, quality provisions, directives, safety procedures, documentation and other instructions with strict adherence to procedural compliance. You will qualify and maintain a license to operate pendant‑controlled cranes, trucks, and forklifts. Good communication skills and basic computer skills are required. You will work with ordnance strictly following all applicable safety and security regulations and must obtain an ordnance worker qualification. Lifting of up to 40 pounds is required.

Key Responsibilities

• Disassemble, sandblast, paint, repair, assemble, and test launcher hardware.
• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on equipment.
• Read and follow drawings, quality provisions, directives, safety procedures, documentation and other instructions.
• Qualify and maintain license for pendant‑controlled cranes, trucks, and forklifts.
• Work with ordnance following all safety and security regulations.
• Obtain and maintain ordnance worker qualification; lift up to 40 pounds.

Basic Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience.
• Experience in mechanical and electrical troubleshooting, preventive and corrective maintenance.
• Experience reading engineering drawings and diagrams.
• Experience with hazardous materials usage, storage, and disposal (e.g., solvents, adhesives, paint).
• U.S. Citizenship required.
• Ability to obtain an interim Secret clearance prior to starting and to maintain a Secret clearance thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with soldering, crimping, and fiber optics.
• Ordnance experience.
• Crane and/or forklift licensing.
• Active Secret clearance.

Compensation & Benefits

Primary Level Salary Range: $49,100 – $81,800 per year. Additional compensation may include overtime, shift differential, discretionary bonuses, and, for higher‑level positions, long‑term incentives. Benefits include health insurance, life and disability insurance, savings plan, company‑paid holidays, and paid time off for vacation or personal business.
