Job summary

Kustom is seeking a Repair Technician in Louisville to perform advanced construction repairs on service jobs, both emergency and non-emergency. You will maintain a stocked company vehicle, prepare work areas, and follow project manager directions for scope of work.

The role requires at least 1 year in construction/restoration, drywall, paint, trim, and light carpentry experience, plus a high school diploma or GED. Strong communication and teamwork are essential for success.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Performs light carpentry, framing, drywall, paint, trim and other repair work.
  • Prepare rooms/areas for work activities and protect contents.
  • Provide direction to subcontractors as needed.
  • Maintain clean, organized work areas and secure equipment.
  • Interface with customers and relay information to Project Manager or Superintendent.
  • Complete paperwork and update database with job progress.
  • Complete punch list items with attention to detail.
  • Maintain company vehicle and equipment in good condition.
  • Assist with demolition and general cleanup as needed.
  • Participate in on-call schedule for after-hours service calls.

Position Overview

The Repair Technician is responsible for performing advanced techniques in various areas of construction trades responding to emergency and non-emergency service jobs. Responsibilities include maintaining a fully stocked and prepared company vehicle to drive to work sites, preparing, maintaining, and cleaning work areas, and performing repairs per the scope of work and project manager direction.

Responsibilities

The Repair Technician will perform the following duties along with any additional duties as assigned by management per business needs. These duties are not listed in any particular order and are subject to change.

  • Performs light carpentry, framing, drywall, paint, trim and other aspects of common repair work.
  • Prepare rooms / areas for work activities to include setting up staging areas, equipment and content protection.
  • Provide direction to subcontractors as needed.
  • Maintain clean and organized work areas to include securely storing equipment and supplies whilenot in use.
  • Interface with customers and relay information to Project Manager or Superintendent when appropriate.
  • Complete paperwork, upload documents, and provide job updates into database as needed.
  • Complete punch list items with attention to detail.
  • Maintain equipment in clean and working condition.
  • Ensures tools and equipment are properly cleaned, stored, and maintained for optimum
    performance and safety.
  • Ensure the company vehicle is fully stocked at all times and travel to a nearby home improvement store to purchase needed items.
  • Monitor the safety, security, efficiency, and appearance of the company vehicle and appearance of job sites.
  • Assist with demolition and general clean up as needed.
  • Participate in an on‑call schedule for after‑hours service calls.
Qualifications
  • Minimum 1-year of experience in construction and / or restoration.
  • Hands on experience in drywall, paint, trim and light carpentry.
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
  • Understanding of major trades processes (mechanical, electrical, plumbing).
  • Demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness.
  • Willingness to be flexible based on business needs.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Thorough understanding of the correct and safe operation of all related tools and equipment.
  • Proficient use of computer technology.
  • Proficiency in light carpentry, framing, drywall, paint, trim and all aspects of repair that iscommon with handyman work.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and build relationships.
  • Eligible to operate a vehicle per company policy.

  • Ability to safely use hand and power tools, occasionally climb ladders, stoop and kneel.
  • Ability to lift and carry 50 lbs., as well as stoop, bend, sit, stand and walk.
  • Must be able to drive up to a 100-mile radius from office to clients’ office and company facilities.
  • Must be able to work in and on overhead structures.
  • Participate in occasional overnight travel, weekend and/or evening work.
  • This role may use standard office equipment such as computer, phones, photocopiers, filingcabinets, and fax machines.
